Vietnam: National Tourism programme promotes Italy

Hanoi - Vietnam tourism promotion programme was recently organized in Milan and Rome by Vietnamese Embassy in Rome and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).The event, part of the VNAT national tourism programme 2017, introduced the nation, people and landscapes of Vietnam as well as ties between Vietnam and Italy. The programme also provided opportunities for businesses of both sides to seek partnerships.Within the framework of the event, VNAT Vice Director and Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien worked with Undersecretary of State for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dorina Dianchi to seek measures to boost bilateral tourism cooperation. "Italy is a promising market for Vietnam. Since the two countries set up their strategic partnership in 2013, the number of Italian tourists to Vietnam has risen by 10-15 percent each year on average" said Vietnamese VNAT Vice Director Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong to local state media.
In 2016, Vietnam welcomed more than 51,000 Italian visitors, up 72 percent from 2015. Last month, Undersecretary of State for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dorina Dianchi led a delegation of Italian travel firms to Vietnam to attend the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Exhibition. According to VNAT, on the occasion of the Vietnam-Italy 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2018, various programmes will be organised to introduce Vietnamese tourism in major Italian cities, while exchanging field trips, improving the training of Italian speaking tour guides and tourism products will be diversified to meet the demand of Italian visitors. Vietnam welcomed more than 39,500 Italian tourists in the first eight months of 2017, according to statistics of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
