Senegal: EU entrusts Italy with the Nexus Program

Dakar - NEXUS Program (Programme d’Appui a la Gestion des Ressources en Eau et du Nexus eau-energie-agriculture dans le Bassin du Fleuve Senegal) is on the way. A cooperation project in the scientific and environmental sector, which the European Union has decided to entrust to Italy's expertise. During the next 4 years, and for a total of over 6 million euros, Italy and the EU will lead the efforts to strengthen the capabilities of OMVS (Senegal River Basin Development Organization) and the 4 countries part of it (Senegal, Guinea, Mali and Mauritania).

Scientific research, environment protection, preserving water, a precious resource in connection with energy and agriculture, cooperation and sharing decisions with the communities of the river, are at the base of the program. Ambassador Venier, the person responsible for EU Cooperation in Dakar, and OMVS High Commissioner, Diane Semega, opened the works.
