Rome second most popular Unesco site on Wikipedia

Brussels - The historic center of Rome is ranked second place, immediately after the banks of the Seine in Paris and ahead of Istanbul, Auschwitz Birkenau and the Statue of Liberty in New York, in a chart published by Eurostat of the most popular Unesco world heritage sites on Wikipedia. The banks of the Seine registered almost 7 million online visits, while the historic center of Rome achieved almost 6 million user hits on Wikipedia. The data were collected as part of a pilot project on big data, which measured the popularity of approximately 1,000 UNESCO world heritage sites through visits to their Wikipedia pages. In addition to the historic center of Rome, the top 20 sites included Vatican City (ranked tenth), Pompeii (thirteenth) and Venice (fourteenth).
