Renzi meets Macron "solid" relation, "united against populism"

Renzi meets Macron "solid" relation, "united against populism"

Paris - A "solid and consolidated" relation to relaunch Europe and rebuild it starting form culture and the reform of the eurozone. These are the "key points" of the long conversation held, on the morning of 21 November at the Elysee, between French President Emmanuel Macron and PD Party Secretary Matteo Renzi. According to the Italian sources talking to AGI, the two leaders expressed their commitment for a more democratic Europe, including the preparation of transnational lists for the European Parliament. The sources highlighted that, since the start of his mandate, Macron has been explicitly inspired by Renzi, and today he represents a reference point for a European relaunch. The EU presidential program in 2014 anticipated a number of propositions made by Macron during his electoral campaign and in his speech at the Sorbonne: from the Europe of values to culture and the relaunch of investments. But today was also an opportunity to talk about the fight against populism, LePenism and its allies, which in Italy include Salvini. Finally, Renzi and Macron expressed their worry for Germany's uncertain political situation.
