Pizza: Benevento 'deep freeze hub', from Samnium to the world

(AGI) - Benevento, 12 Sep - It is a world-famous dish - but for it to reach dining tables all over the world there would need to be a pizzeria on every street corner. Or you could opt for a deep-frozen product. This is the latest challenge undertaken by the Nestlé group, which will be using its Buitoni factory in Benevento to produce - when operating at full speed - 350 frozen pizzas per minute. 150 new employees and three production lines will provide a steady stream of pizzas for storage in three warehouses, where new and cutting-edge technology will freeze the pizzas in just a few seconds, thereby preserving the essential characteristics of a freshly-cooked product. Top-quality raw materials will be locally sourced and the new premises will adhere to the highest environmental sustainability standards, with energy derived entirely from renewable sources and separated waste collection and recycling implemented for 100% of the waste produced.
