Migrants: Italy and Niger sign Defense Cooperation agreement
​Rome - A Defense Cooperation agreement between Italy and Niger was signed today in Rome by Minister Roberta Pinotti and her counterpart Kalla Moutari. The news was announced in a tweet from the Ministry of Defense. While no further details were given on the content of the agreement, it is very likely that this falls within the wider Italian strategy of 'building bridges', cooperating with those African countries where the human migration takes place or has a strong impact. Niger is certainly one of such countries, and possibly a key one. Thousands of people from central Africa and the Sahel try to reach Libya and cross the Mediterranean Sea.
