Made in Italy: from Turin to Abu Dhabi, diamond and gold shoes
Turin - Three unique models, adorned with rubies, diamonds and emeralds, an homage to Turin that will fly to Abu Dhabi. The shoes were made in occasion of the Design of the City event, by shoemaker Antonio Vietri, who specializes in the creation of shoes made of gold and precious gems, aimed at shoppers in the Arab Emirates market. What is really unique about his first model, a pair of blue mocassins, is the heel shaped as the Mole Antonelliana. To create them and make them stable to walk in, Vietri collaborated with a company from Piedmont that develops 3D technology. A silver Mole Antonelliana on the instep, is the feature of the second model; the third model has an "ankle necklace", with diamonds, emeralds and rubies that form the word Doc, Design of the City, an homage to the event. The shoes are the result of a combination of skills, all Made in Italy. In fact, to make these shoes Antonio Vietri collaborated with a goldsmith from Piedmont: each letter of the word Doc weighs 1.5 carats, while the white-diamond tennis necklace on the instep weighs 6 carats. The price is 50,000 euros. "This is my homage to the city of Turin explained Antonio Vietri I intend to take the shoes to Abu Dhabi and display them in an exhibition that will be held in June 2018, in collaboration with Italian and United Arab Emirates institutions. It will be the occasion to show the world the excellence of Piedmont and Italy's entrepreneurship and artisanal manufacturing.
