Made in Italy: Alfano, economic diplomacy at service of good food

Rome - The second edition of the world-wideItalian cuisine week, which is scheduled to take place from 20 to 26November, "places economic diplomacy at the service of excellent Italian products". This was the statement made by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Angelino Alfano, as he presented the initiative at Villa Madama. Italy, the head of the Italian Foreign Affairs Ministry recalled, "is the super power of beauty, of culture, of good food, which combines creativity, cultural andarchaeological heritage, design and food and wine trails". Hence the mission of the diplomatic-consular network, engaged inpromoting the "Italy brand as a whole".

As Alfano emphasized, "the agrifood sector is worth 132billion Euros, exports are worth 40 billion and the ambitious goalis to achieve 50 billion by 2020". Remembering "the extensiveItalian strategy, in close collaboration with the privatesector", the minister mentioned the more than one thousand eventsorganized in over one hundred Countries across the globe. Alfano then recalledthe next objectives for diplomacy, with theproposal to insert "the art of NeapolitanPizza makers" into the UNESCO list, with votes expected tobe held in Seoul shortly, and the "Conegliano hills", land of the Prosecco,which will be voted on next year.
