Venice - Lavazza purchased 80% of Nims, the Padua company that sells espresso machines and coffee pods door-to-door across the country, raking EUR 110 million turnover in 2016. The transaction will be completed next year with the acquisition of the remaining 20% equity, and it is a huge step forward for the Lavazza Group, whose strategy is to strengthen its leadership in the coffee pod market in Italy, further increasing its ability to reach the final consumer. "The Italian coffee market continues to point at the single dose segment, the most dynamic one in the domestic market", stated Lavazza's Chief Executive Antonio Baravalle. "The integration of Nims within our group is aimed at increasing our direct line to the final consumer through a clear long term strategy centered on coffee". The two companies had already been working together, after signing a partnership in 1994.
