Milan - Italy's second-hand sector is growing: +2.1% in one year. In 2016, a total of 3,553 Italian companies were active in the sale of goods made valuable by time, which become trendy according to the latest vintage fashion or provide cost savings compared to new purchases. This is the result of an evaluation made by the Milan Chamber of Commerce by processing business register data for the fourth quarter of 2016 and 2015.

The goods most likely to be resold are secondhand furniture and antiques, which generate work for 1,720 companies, 1,289 businesses involved in the sale of secondhand clothing and other used goods and 296 businesses involved in the retail of secondhand books. Rome ranks first in the second-hand sector, where 10.7% of the companies in the second-hand market are based, followed by Milan (7.7%) and Turin (5.8%). These three cities, respectively with 379, 275 and 207 businesses, rank among the first in Italy. Naples is in fourth place (with 198 companies), followed by Florence (158), which, respectively, comprise 5.6% and 4.4% of companies in the second-hand sector.
