Italy-USA: Umbria Film Festival Lands in Texas

Houston - The Spello Film Festival lands in Texas with "Umbria in Sugar Land", from September 27 to October 1, after having been showcased in the Venice Film Festival in 2016. The seven films in contest were picked by artistic director Fabrizio Cattani and presented by Donatella Cocchini, president of the 'Aurora' Association that organizes the Spello ed i Borghi Umbri Film Festival. The mission of the event is to showcase the excellences of Umbria. "Four prizes will be awarded by a technical jury panel (best film, best screenplay, best photography and best direction). Paintings, sculptures, jewelry and photographs by artists from Umbria will be exhibited, by the side of local crafts and typical food and wine", explained Tiziana Ciaccofera, director of this project for the United States, to AGI. The event will go ahead despite the problems caused by hurricane Harvey that flooded Houston. "The event springs from an idea by Manuela Tentoni, who was born in Perugia and lives in the United States. She operated as liaison between Umbria and Texas to promote the culture and beauty of her home region", added Ciacciofera. The event is in partnership with the city of Sugar Land and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, with the collaboration of the Umbria Region and the municipality of Spello.
