Italy-Norway: Cognetti's book 'Le otto montagne' presented in Oslo
Oslo - The Italian writer Paolo Cognetti has flown to Oslo and its House of Literature to present his award-winning novel "Le otto montagne" (or The Eight Mountains), focused on male friendship, and the relationships between father and son, mankind and nature, and mountains and wisdom. A book about roots, finding a home, staying in one place or wandering... in all of which the mountain remains the central focus and symbol. Two other authors also spoke, Lars Mytting and Erling Kagge, in a forum conducted by the journalist and writer Vetle Lid Larssen: a conversation on the experience of writing about nature and about male friendships and their relation to mountains and emotions. 2017 winner of Italys main literary prize, the Premio Strega, as well as the Junior Premio Strega 2017, 'Le otto montagne' aroused great interest at the Frankfurt Book Fair and is currently being translated in 30 countries. The Norwegian version is translated by Tommy Watz and published by Kagge, which organized this event in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo.
