Italy-Colombia: in Bogotá Il Teatro Nudo International Prize
Bogotá - The International Prize Il Teatro Nudo di Teresa Pomodoro organized by the NoHma Association and the Municipality of Milan is open for entries until September 30. The announcement comes from the Italian Cultural Institute in Bogotá. According to the promoters of the competition, now in its ninth year, Il Teatro Nudo [The Naked Theater] is a theater that will not be held to ransom by wealth and ostentation and does not bow down to appearances, looks or social conventions. Instead, it strips itself bare and, curious and disenchanted, enters the world of meanings in order to explore man and the society he has created.
The Prize aims to bring the performance arts into the very the heart of society, and restore the value of the theater as an experience, an opportunity for growth and sharing open to all citizens regardless of their age, social class, gender or the geographical area they come from. The Prize is dedicated to the memory of Teresa Pomodoro, who originally inspired and was the moving spirit behind the conception of a theater open to cross-fertilizations between the different art forms. Spazio Teatro No'Hma is the ideal space for delivering these interpenetrations through performances, events and encounters, thus breathing new life into places of social isolation and exclusion, and turning the theater into a bridge for the marginalized, enabling them to play a leading role in its art so that it can regain its moral function centered above all on catharsis, going beyond the mimetic role of the Aristotelian tradition.
