Israel: IIC presents "Compassion in Dante's Inferno"

Jerusalem - The Italian Institute of Culture (IIC), together with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, presented "Compassion in Dante's Inferno" as part of its literary and philosophical meetings. The meeting on the theme of "compassion" in Dante's Inferno could be considered an intersection between the more traditional research on Dante, and the new academic trend known as "affect theory" that has become popular in Europe and in the United States in the last few years.

The conference took place at the Mount Scopus Campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and was attended by some of the top experts on Dante and on medieval philosophy from Italy, the United States, Germany and, of course, Israel. Participants from Italy included Prof. Pietro Boitani from Rome's La Sapienza University and Prof. Giovanni Barberi Squarotti from the University of Turin.
