Gentiloni: no longer in last position, Italy to grow 1.8%

 Gentiloni

Rome - "I am here to witness something very simple: Italy is proud of your work, and of the fact that your university, your hospital,  your private university are exceptionally good places, places that provide a real service to Romeand the country". These were the words of Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, in his presentation to launch the new Academic Year 2017-2018 at the Universita' Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
"A year ago we were at the Universita' Cattolica in Milan and when I think about that day, the background, internationally, was very worrying. A year later, several things have changed, for me too, though I am not sure whether for better or worse. The winter of European discontent has slowly receded, perhaps even melted in the sun at Campidoglio, celebrating sixty years since the Treaty of Rome. We still face extremely serious geo-political uncertainties, geo-political unpredictability is still with us. But we also need to say that this year we witnessed an economic comeback for our country. Growth has come back, and this year the Statistical Office forecasts nearly 2%: 1.8%. We vastly improved the Italian deficit situation", Gentiloni underlined, "and we are proud to say that we took a step forward. The fact is that Italy will grow by one point eight percent. Those who can only see our country in last position, should check their facts".
