Food: 47% of Italians rates restaurants online
Cernobbio- Online reviews written by other users on the restaurants we just tried out, are tempting for both those who write and those who are looking for recommendations. This is a growing trend. Almost half of Italians ranks online the restaurants and other venues they visit, with 47% of the population stating they wrote online reviews on their lunch or dinner in the last year. This was highlighted by the Coldiretti/Censis report on the restaurant business in Italy, presented at the Agro-food Forum organized by Coldiretti. According to the online ratings, 58.2% of Italians rated their experience as excellent, 36.8% as good or fair and 5% as poor. The most common reason for negative scores were venues that are too small, crowded or noisy, long waiting times or rude staff. Negative comments on food quality or preparation were less common. The Coldiretti/Censis report also analyzed the reviews posted by foreign customers, and they seem to be less strict: 66% rated the restaurant they visited as excellent, 30.3% rated them as fair or good and 3.7% wrote negative reviews. Analyzing the results by venue, only 5.6% of the restaurants evaluated reached the top category, which were able to offer an extraordinary experience to their customers, according to Coldiretti.
