Ferrari's Portofino debuts in South Africa

Ferrari's Portofino debuts in South Africa

Cape Town - The Ferrari Portofino made its debut in Johannesburg, South Africa, at a private media viewing held by the official dealer of Ferrari in the country, Scuderia South Africa. Named after one of Italy's most charming villages on the Italian Riviera, Ferrari claims the Portofino is its most powerful convertible and features a retractable hard top, a roomy boot and a generous cockpit. Powered by the Ferrari V8 turbo, a member of the engine family that won the overall International Engine of the Year Award in both 2016 and 2017, the new car is capable of punching out 600 cv, and features an all-new chassis which is lighter than the California T, which it replaces. The characteristic Ferrari V8 soundtrack has also been further enhanced and can be fully appreciated, particularly in top-down driving. These improvements, combined with its variable boost management which adjusts torque delivery to suit the gear selected, enable the Ferrari Portofino to offer even higher levels of acceleration in all gears and lower fuel consumption compared to the outgoing model. "We are thrilled to reveal the Portofino to the media of South Africa, this fine automobile is the latest addition to our local Ferrari Range. The Portofino is a benchmark in its segment and surpasses all expectations of a V8 grand tourer. We believe this exceptionally versatile drop-top embodies the perfect combination of design excellence, supreme performance and unmatched technology," Mervyn Eagles, CEO of Scuderia South Africa, said at the private view on Friday. The Italian automaker first debuted the Portofino at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2017.
