Rome - The Mechatronics Pole in Rovereto, a technology hub of Trentino Sviluppo, was chosen by Fiat Chrysler Automobile to create an ultra-high-tech road circuit stretching over 15 thousand square kilometers, together with local public and private partners. FCA's Chief Executive, Sergio Marchionne, emphasized the importance of the project, to be launched in 2018, as he arrived in Rovereto to receive an Honorary Degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of Trento. The center for smart transport systems, a first in Italy, is born out of the partnership between the Fiat Research Center and the Mechatronics Pole. The project is part of the agreement signed last May by the Minster for Economic Development Carlo Calenda and the vice-President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Alessandro Olivi, to work towards the creation of the car of the future.
