Venice - The days dedicated to the Veneto region at Expo 2017 in Astana ended with the gift of an artistic Murano glass vase to the Kazakhstan National Museum. The work of art prominently featured in the area dedicated to the Veneto region in Palazzo Italia all week and is a compendium of the blend of past and present, of nature and energy, and of history and innovation, which are the key topics of the first world Expo organized in the Central Asian area.

No fewer than 70 thousand visitors flocked to Palazzo Italia in the days dedicated to Veneto, attracted by the video installation projected on the maxi screen in Piazza Volta and by the interactive information totems which told about the Venetia "way" to achieve energy efficiency, illustrating the results accomplished by local small and medium enterprises in addition to current and future eco-sustainability projects. The Padua University project for climate-controlling the historical buildings of Venice using water from the canals and that of district heating in the Euganeo spa area using thermal water was found particularly interesting by exhibitors and companies from other countries. Focus was also on the Etra and Veritas Multi-Utility Companies for their activity in the field of clean energy production from waste. Activities also included a workshop for Kazakh and international wine-makers organized by the Consorzio Unione Vini of Veneto in collaboration with Regional authorities.

"The Astana Expo was a high-quality meeting place for researchers, companies, economic operators, and private and public organizations on the key topics of development and future: efficiency and saving, eco-sustainable manufacturing, cities and smart mobility", commented the President of Veneto Luca Zaia. "Choosing to devote a space to Veneto in the Italian Pavilion was a major opportunity to give world visibility to the innovative capabilities of our small and medium enterprises, to meet world competitors on their ground and to establish and consolidate exchanges with research centers, universities and lead players from other continents in the wake of the work we started in the Milan Expo and with an eye to the next event in Dubai in 2020".
