EU: European School in Ventotene, stateless students included

Rome  - A European School to strengthen the values of the Union at this time of fragmentation and worry. This is the mission of Nuova Europa (New Europe), a non-profit association targeting 16 to 18-year old students from European Union member countries, who meet on the island campus forming multi-national groups. The project, carried out with the city of Ventotene, will take place during several weeks in the school year. The idea of creating a school to teach European Citizenship on the very island where Spinelli, Rossi and Colorni had written the Manifesto that gave life to European federalism, was sparked by the "Ventotene Europa Festival", organized by the same association, with 31 youngsters from Rome, Paris and Berlin. At the end of the festival, the students compiled the 'Declaration of Ventotene', which was handed to the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini, and the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani. It is the first draft of a Constitution highlighting the founding principles of the European citizenship according to the Millennials.
