Ethiopia: AICS to Boost Ethiopian Coffee Industry

Addis Ababa -  An Ethiopian delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Eyasu Abreha, visited Brazil where he met the Brazilian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Eumar Roberto Novack. The delegation, according to the "Fana" state broadcaster, included representatives of the Italian company Illycaffe', the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Unido). During the meeting, they discussed cooperation in the areas of productivity, the management of acid soils and research and development in coffee production in Ethiopia. The visiting delegation also included representatives of an Italian coffee roasting company-Illycaffe S.p.A., the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The mission will continued with field visits to coffee plantations and related institutions in the state of Minas Gerais and in Sao Paulo. The field visits were being organized and lead by Alessandro Bucci, Director of Coffee Procurement Department and Aldir Alves Teixeira, Director General and CEO of Experimental Agricola do Brasil Ltda. Illycaffe. This mission is being implemented by UNIDO, in cooperation with Illycaffe and the Ernesto Illy Foundation, in the framework of the programmer for "Improving the Sustainability and Inclusiveness of the Ethiopian Coffee Value Chain through Private and Public Partnership", sponsored by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
