Eni: Zohr gas field will start production at the end of the year

Rome - "It is now confirmed that production will start at the end of the year, progress is very good". Said Eni's CEO, Claudio Descalzi, in occasion of the 2017 Eni Award ceremony, talking about the natural gas field Zohr, in Egypt. "Checks on the field will be carried out in November. We are totally committed to the project, which has great value because we use local resources to the maximum", added the manager. In Iran, said Descalzi, "we are progressing, we are studying the contract and the contribution we can bring and considering possible USA sanctions". "We are treading carefully, we are looking at the best way to develop these two situations", he added.
    Eni's CEO spoke during the 2017 Eni Awards ceremony, which this year has reached its 10th edition. The awards were created to encourage innovative ideas for the best use of energy sources and promote scientific research, sustainability and respect for the environment. The ceremony took place on 5 October at Palazzo del Quirinale, in the presence of the President of the Republic.The initiative celebrated its 10th anniversary introducing a new award dedicated to young African graduates, the "Research Debut: Young Talents from Africa" award. The ceremony was inaugurated in the ballroom, with speeches from Emma Marcegaglia and Claudio Descalzi, Eni's President and CEO.
    The President of the Republic, Mattarella presented the awards: 'Energy Transition' to Prof. Robert Schlogl; 'Energy Frontiers" to Prof. Jens Nielsen; 'Advanced Environmental Solutions' to Prof. Graham Hutchings; 'Young Researcher of the Year" to Dr Matteo Fasano and Dr Stefano Lange; 'Research Debut: Young Talents from Africa' to Dr Ugwoke Onyeche Blessing and Dr Yemane Kelemework Equbamariam.
    Mattarella also presented the "Recognizing Eni's Innovation" award to three research groups, for the outstanding results of their work. Members of the Eni Award Scientific Commission and representatives of the academic and research world, were present at the event.
