 Eni racconta l'Africa

Rome - Since 2008, Eni has partnered with Mantova's Festivaletteratura, one of the most anticipated yearly cultural events in Italy: five days of meetings with authors, readings, guided tours, performances and concerts with artists from all over the world. For Eni, the protagonist of this edition is Africa, a land linked to the six-legged dog company since the 1950s, and with great growth prospects, thanks to recent successful exploration results. Eni, an example of business integrated with sustainable activities, continues to be the first foreign operator in Africa, and confirms its ability to create strong relations with the territory, based on cooperation and integration. Every year, in occasion of the festival, Eni organizes the "Inedita Energia (Unpublished Energy)" event, dedicated to re-publishing a number of texts, from the 50s and 60s, taken from the historic company magazine "Il Gatto Selvatico (The Wild Cat)", (an initiative of Enrico Mattei, directed by poet Attilio Bertolucci), with the participation of prestigious guests who discuss the volume's topic. The idea is to share not just a book created by Eni, but to start a debate on cultural and social matters. Over the years, the event has grown and today is one of the most anticipated by the festival's aficionados. This year, Inedita Energia (September 10, 11.30 h, Piazza Castello, Mantova) takes cue from Viaggio in Africa (Journey in Africa), a book that features great photographs selected with the support of Camera - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, from Eni's historic archive and other renowned document collections. The event will be moderated by Neri Marcore' and include the participation of Ingy Mubiayi, African-Italian writer who focuses her work on migrants; Pietro Bartolo, a doctor in Lampedusa, protagonist of Gianfranco Rosi's film "Fuocoammare"; Jean Leonard Touadi, senior advisor to FAO and Jacopo Fo, who will talk about the "Il Teatro Fa Bene (Theater is good for you)" experience in Mozambico. Eni also organizes the photograph exhibition Viaggio in Africa (Journey in Africa), in collaboration with Camera (September 6-10, Atrio degli Arcieri, Palazzo Ducale), which continues the story about the African continent. Inedited photographs by Mimmo Jodice add value to the exhibition. A second part of the event, with a selection of images, will be held in Ferrara in occasion of the 2017 World Press Photo (September 29 - October 29 2017).
