Enel wins bid in Canada to build 146 Mw of wind power capacity

Rome - Enel, via its US subsidiary for renewable energies, Enel Green Power North America, has won two 20-year Renewable Energy Support Agreements to generate 146 MW of new wind power in Alberta, Canada, following a call for tenders by the electricity provider in the province, Alberta Electric System Operator. A note has disclosed the news that based on these two agreements, Enel is to build two new wind power plants, the 115 MW Riverview Wind and the 30.6 MW Phase 2 of Castle Rock Ridge, providing AESO with the energy produced and the relevant renewable energy credits. The overall investment for the construction of the two wind power plants totals approximately 170 million US dollars. "Winning these contracts in Canada constitutes a major achievement for our company, since it is the first governed call for tenders for renewable energy we have ever won in this country", commented Antonio Cammisecra, head of the Global Renewable Energies Division at Enel, Enel Green Power. "We are happy to invest once more in the Canadian energy sector and continue our expansion in the Alberta Province. In recent years, we have achieved an unprecedented growth rate in North and Central America, from Canada to the USA and even Mexico, and this bid is yet another example of our success and global competitiveness".
