D'Angelo's "Falchi" to screen at "Giornate del Cinema di Genere"

Rome - "Le Giornate del Cinema di Genere", a film festival co-created by M. Deborah Farina, who is also the director and artistic director of the event, and by the President, Lucio Montanaro, star of the Italian comedy film genre, will be held from September 15 to 17 in Martina Franca (Taranto).Saturday, September 16 will be dedicated to "Napoli e il noir ieri e oggi" ("Naples and Noir, Yesterday and Today") with the screening of "Falchi" the latest film by Toni D'Angelo and the cult gangster movies "Napoli Violenta" ("Violent Naples") by Umberto Lenzi and "Napoli... Serenata Calibro 9" ("Naples... Serenade for Caliber 9") by Alfonso Brescia.
In "Falchi," two police officers enforce the law in Naples on their motorcycles. The film contains sleek echoes of Hong Kong style filmmaking, a genre D'Angelo is passionate about. "But 'Falchi' is mostly a film about love and second chances," says the director Toni D'Angelo. "Peppe and Francesco are two 'borderline' police officers who find their second chance through friendship with a Chinese prostitute and with a dog, respectively".
The Martina Franca festival features a program of film music associated with the genre, represented by one of its foremost exponents, the composer Piero Umiliani. The Italian band Osanna will be awarded the "Premio per la Musica da Film Piero Umiliani" (Piero Umiliani Film Music Score Award) for their soundtrack of "Milano Calibro 9" ("Caliber 9").On Sunday, September 17 filmmaker Fernando Di Leos work will be celebrated in the "Maestri del Genere" (Masters of the Genre) section, with the screening of "Down by Di Leo. Viaggio d'amore alla scoperta di Fernando Di Leo" ("Down by Di Leo. A Journey of Love and Discovery of Fernando Di Leo"), a documentary by M. Deborah Farina, and Di Leos two cult movies, "Milano Calibro 9" and "La Mala Ordina" (The Italian Connection).
