Assisi: Convent to celebrate Mattarella's visit on October 3
Perugia - Sergio Mattarella will be in Assisi on October 3, 20 years after the earthquake that shook Umbria in September 1997. "The Custodian of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, Father Mauro Gambetti, expresses joy and gratitude on behalf of the entire Franciscan family. As reported in a note, the Community of the Sacred Convent is honored to welcome the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella on the anniversary of the earthquake that struck Umbria and Marche on September 26,1997. It is a visit to commemorate those who died in order to protect and promote the values of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of our country." These were the words of Father Enzo Fortunato, Director of the Press Office of the Sacred Convent, who mentioned the visits of the Presidents of the Italian Republic to Assisi: "these visits left a mark in the history of the city, of this community, of this region, and of our country. Sergio Mattarella will become the eighth president to visit the Sacred Convent."
