On the morning of November 20 in Perugia, the Government Commissioner for the Digital Agenda Diego Piacentini opened the national roadshow "Sistema Paese 4.0 (National Economic System 4.0) - Digital Synergies between the Public Administration and the market in support of the Three-Year Plan for ICT in public administration", promoted by the Digital Transformation Team and Confindustria Digitale (Digital Italian Manufacturing Companies Association).

The roadshow presentation was held at in the Brugnoli room of Palazzo Cesaroni, home to the Legislative Assembly of the Umbria Region. This nation-wide initiative involves a series of meetings held in venues across the city where Confindustria's Digital Innovation Hub is operating. These facilities have been created with the aim of supporting the processes of industrial modernization. The event underway in Umbria is an opportunity to take stock of the state of progress of the Team's activities in the sphere of digital transformation, and to discuss the benefits that the national "operating system" - a series of digital components aimed at building more streamlined and effective services to the community - can bring to local bodies and enterprises. The workshop participants, besides Commissioner Diego Piacentini, are: Elio Catania, President of Confindustria Digitale; Antonio Alunni, President of Confindustria Umbria; Enrico Cereda, the President of the Steering Committee of Digital Platforms for the Public Administration; Catiuscia Marini, President of the Umbria Region; Francesco Calabrese, the Councilor for Infrastructure of the Municipality of  Perugia; and Donatella Porzi, the President of the Legislative Assembly of the Umbria Region. The "Sistema Paese 4.0" (National Economic System 4.0) project is the first broad-based initiative organized at the national level which aims to support, through a partnership between the public administration and enterprises, the spread of large-scale digital platforms as provided for by Italy’s Three-Year Plan for ICT in public administration.

The Perugia meeting is targeted at public administrations, businesses and startups, IT developers, and economic, educational and research organizations, with the aim to boost knowledge of the main components of the Three-Year Plan and of the benefits that these can bring to the creation of new growth opportunities for the economy and society.

The Digital Transformation Team is a government body that was set up under the auspices of the Italian Prime Minister on September 16, 2016, and will last through September 16, 2018. This team of experts, under the guidance of the Government Commissioner Diego Piacentini, is working to achieve nation-wide digital transformation and streamlining. Piacentini, currently on leave of absence from his role as Vice-President of Amazon, returned to Italy in August 2016, having accepted to work pro bono for the Italian government for two years to lead the process of digital transformation of the Italian public administration.

Before joining Amazon, where he has worked for 16 years, he was Vice-President of Apple Europe and held a financial management position at Fiat Impresit in Italy. Piacentini is also on the Board of the Maasai Association, an organization that supports health and education in Kenya, and is an investor in the Unitus Seed Fund, an investment fund based in Bangalore and Seattle that invests in innovative startups in India.
