(AGI) Rome, May 31 - Hollywood star Richard Gere is to screen his latest film on New Yorkers without homes to an audience of the homeless in Rome. Mr Gere will present "Time Out of Mind" on June 9 at 3 pm in the canteen of the Community of Sant'Egidio. The film by Oren Moverman, distributed by Lucky Red, opens in Italian cinemas on June 15. The screening, supported by Andrea Occhipinti of Lucky Red and Tiziana Rocca for the Taormina Film Fest, of which Mr Gere is honorary president, fits into a series of philanthropic projects he has promoted worldwide. The #homelesszero charity campaign, organised by the Taormina Film Fest, will start from Via Dandolo 10, where the Rome projection takes place, until arriving in the beautiful scenery of the Teatro Antico in Taormina. On June 11 during the evening the opening of the 62nd festival, more than 300 homeless people from all over Sicily will attend the screening of the film. Richard Gere will also receive the "Taormina Humanitarian award", a prize established in 2012 to highlight the importance of the social activities of famous people. The proceeds from the evening will go to the FIO.PSD federation (Italian Federation of Organisations for homeless people). (AGI) . .
