Pakistan: Italy in Karachi Literature Festival with special prize

Karachi - The Italian Consulate in Karachi has announced to support the 'Karachi Literature Festival' later this month. This is the 8th edition of this annual international festival that attracts tens of thousands of visitors. Mr Andrea Berrini, editor of "Metropoli d'Asia" will come back to Karachi to announce the Winner of the "Italy Reads Pakistan Award" launched in KLF 2016. This Literary Prize, sponsored by the Consulate of Italy in Karachi, is different from other prizes. In fact, it not only consists of a money award but also provides the translation and the publication by "Metropoli d'Asia" in Italian language of the winner book to allow Italian readers to know a work which, otherwise, would be hardly known in Italy. The winner will be announced Saturday, February 11 at 10 a.m. Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

 

 

 

Mr Berrini will also speak about "Fictio: The World Over" on Saturday, February 10 at 2:15 p.m PST. With its constant support and pioneering "Italy Reads Pakistan Award", Italy left its mark on 7th KLF last year. Tens of thousands of art-loving people visited the three-day festivity in the ports city Karachi in February 2016. It featured over 200 local and international artists. On its part, in collaboration with the KFL and Metropoli d'Asia, an Italian publishing company specialized in contemporary Asian novels, the Italian Consulate in Karachi launched "Italy Reads Pakistan Award" at the KLF 2016.

Italy also featured in 4 panels at the KLF that highlight the experience of an Italian editor who publishes contemporary Asian novels in Italian language, Italian and Urdu literature besides a dedicated session on history of Italian art. From Italy, Andrea Berrini of Metropoli d'Asia, Sabiana Paoli and Andrea Berrini featured in the sessions.
