(AGI) - Maputo, Oct 11 - Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Mozambique will achieve this year USD2,3 billion after registering a decline from USD7,4 billion in 2014 to USD1,3 billion in 2015, reveals the country's Investment Promotion Center-CPI. According to the daily "O Pais", which cites a report by the CPI in the "Forum China/Portuguese speaking African countries", which is taking place since the weekend in Macau, China, the recovery of FDI this year results from the start of prospecting work of oil and gas in six blocs that the government recently awarded to the winning companies. The recovery of FDI comes at a time when this natural resources rich Southern African nation of 23 million people is experiencing a serious economic crisis resulting from the international situation of commodities prices, natural disasters and political and military instability. This situation is also aggravated by the suspension by the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and other bilateral and multilateral international partners of financial assistance due to the discovery of hidden debts contracted from private international banks.(AGI) Tig
