Magneti Marelli wins innovation awards in Brazil, China

(AGI) Rome, July 6 - The Italian automotive company Magneti Marelli has been awarded prizes for innovation in Brazil and China. Magneti Marelli obtained two international acknowledgements: the REI 2016 in the "Engineering, Innovation and Technology" category in Brazil; and the Golden Panda in the "Time-Honoured Panda" category in China. The REI is a prestigious award in the field of innovation and technology promoted by Automotive Business, one of the top Brazilian magazines dedicated to the sector. Magneti Marelli's Powertrain business area won the REI category thanks to a project related to the "First laboratory for the analysis of hybrid and 4x4 vehicle performance" developed in Latin America. The Powertrain division's Technological Centre in Hortolandia, Sao Paulo, is the first of its kind in Latin America dedicated to 4x4 and hybrid vehicles. The new lab covers a surface of 618 square metres and is equipped with latest-generation machinery to answer car makers' needs to develop specific analysis programs for vehicles weighing up to 5.4 tonnes. The award in China was presented to Magneti Marelli by the Italian Chamber of Commerce as part of the yearly "Golden Panda" awards. The "Time-Honoured Panda" was awarded on the basis of the quality of Magneti Marelli's long-standing presence in China. The awards were divided in eight categories, with 10 companies receiving a prize during the ceremony in Shanghai. The Golden Panda aims to reward Italian and Chinese entities and individuals who set themselves apart in strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Italy and China. The 2016 edition in China was organised with the patronage of the Italian Embassy to China, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development, and promoted in collaboration with the Italy China Foundation (Fondazione Italia Cina - FIC). Magneti Marelli is present in China with production establishment and R&D/Engineering Centres in Shanghai, Wuhu, Guanzhou, Changsha, Hangzhou, Changchun, Hefei, Foshan, and Xiaogan in the Hubei province.
