Lithuania to open honorary consulate in Apulia

Lithuania to open honorary consulate in Apulia

Taranto - Lithuania announced the opening of an honorary consulate in Taranto, Apulia, which aims to establish an exchange between the two areas. It actually is a reopening, considering that there was an office in Bari some years ago.

The objective is to enhance tourism as well as economic and entrepreneurial exchanges. Lina Terra, plenipotentiary minister at the Lithuanian Embassy, expressed her love for Apulia on a visit to Taranto on Saturday, May 13. She assigned an honorary mandate to Pino Saracino, who is based in Taranto. "Puglia is the first region I visited when I was sent to the Embassy in Rome in 1993, " said Mrs Terra, widow of an Italian agriculture entrepreneur.

"Porto Cesareo and the Grotto of the Rabbits were the first sites I became acquainted with in this region. I came again and again to get to know Apulia better. I visited Taranto for the first time last year, with the aim of setting up the consulate office. I have found Apulia to be a fascinating region, with its history, art, culture and enchanting towns such as Gallipoli and Otranto".
