(AGI) Milan, July 21 - Milan's famous La Scala theatre will be on tour from Aug. 29 to Sep. 25 visiting six cities in South Korea, China, Russia and Japan for 29 shows. It will perform Verdi's Boccanegra and Beethoven's Symphony No.9 in Seoul, Shanghai, and Moscow conducted by Maestro Myung-Whun Chung. Maestro Riccardo Chailly will also be in Moscow for two nights, to conduct Verdi's Requiem and a concert by the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra. The tour begins on Aug. 29 in South Korea. The orchestra and choir will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in Seoul's Lotte Concert Hall, with Maestro Myung-Whun Chung conducting. He will be back two days later to conduct Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra" as a concert, with vocals by Simone Piazzola, Carmen Giannattasio, Fabio Sartori and Dmitry Belosselskiy. The same programme will be performed in China at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on Sep. 3 and 4. The orchestra and choir will then transfer to Moscow, where they will give three performances of "Boccanegra" as a theatrical piece staged by Federico Tiezzi and conducted by Maestro Chung, in the framework of a relationship with the Bolshoi Theatre. Musical Director Riccardo Chailly will also conduct two performances on Sep. 11 and 14 of Verdi's Requiem Mass, La Scala's most emblematic piece. Chailly will also direct the Philharmonic on Sep. 15, offering Moscow's public the sounds of Cherubini, Verdi, and Rossini. The GUM department store is La Scala's main partner in its Moscow tour, organised as part of the "Cherry Tree Forest Arts Festival". (AGI). .
