Kiev's Opera Theatre will host Puccini's Tosca
 The National Opera of Ukraine

Kiev - The National Opera of Ukraine will be home to Tosca, Giacomo Puccini's famous opera, with performances continuing until May. The initiative, which forms part of a long-standing cooperation between the Italian Embassy in Ukraine, the Italian Cultural Institute in Kiev, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and the National Opera of Ukraine, celebrates the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties of Rome and the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Italian Republic and Ukraine.

Tosca is an opera in three acts, a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica adapted from Victorien Sardou's tragedy by the same name. It is one of the most acclaimed and widely staged operas in the world. Tosca opened in Kiev on March 31 and will continue on the following dates: April 1, 9, 30 and May 31.

Several famous soloists will perform, including Liudmyla Monastyrska and tenor Valter Borin, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra, the Choir of the National Opera of Ukraine, and the Treble Choir directed by Maestro Mykola Diadiura.
