Kazakhstan: La Scala Theatre in Astana during Expo 2017

Astana - The world famous La Scala will come to Astana in the beginning of September to conduct a 10 day performance from 1 to 10 September 2017, according to the Artistic Director of La Scala Alexander Pereira. He noted that the La Scala program for Astana would include Verdi's Falstaff and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 conducted by maestro Zubin Mehta.

"This is the most loved work of Giuseppe Verdi. Concerning the symphony of Beethoven, its main message is the unification of peoples. It carries such a message that we are all brothers and sisters", Alexander Pereira explained."This time we come with a very large team, whose members are - instrumentalists, musicians, singers, conductors, stage designers. This is one of the most important projects for us, because the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the theater La Scala for two times already.

La Scala has already received invitations from two other countries, however, we have decided to come to Kazakhstan, because Astana is becoming a new cultural center", Alexander Pereira said.Earlier Alexander Pereira met with Kazakh Secretary of State Gulshara Abdykalikova. During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation in opera and ballet art, organizing La Scala's tours in Kazakhstan and Astana Opera's visit to Italy. Organizers announced the ticket price for La Scal will range from 1000 (around $3 US dollars) to 30 000 ($96 US dollars) tenge.
