Italy's Pessina Constructions to build 5 hospitals in Iran

(AGI) Rome, Jan 19 - Italian hospital construction company Pessina Costruzioni will build and manage five hospitals in Iran. Guido Stefanelli, the CEO of the Milan-based company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Iran's Ministry of Health in Tehran on Tuesday. The medical facilities will be funded through the project financing instrument which will also cover the provision of 'no core' and commercial services. Of the first three hospitals, a 1000-bed facility will be built in Tehran. The second, a 500-bed unit, is for Rasht, the capital of Gilan province, the largest Iranian city near the Caspian Sea and the main trade hub for Iran's exchanges with the Caucasus and Russia through the port of Bandar-e-Anzali. And the third hospital - 500 beds - will be built in Nishapur, an important city in eastern Iran, and the capital of Razavi Khorasan province. The Memorandum signed by Pessina Costruzioni envisages a total of five hospitals, two more than the three already described. During the meeting, the top executives of Pessina Costruzioni, CEO Guido Stefanelli and architect Elena Reynaud, the head of the company's Hospital Commercial Division, presented the company's business plan and the preliminary project to the Ministry of Health officials. Thanks to this agreement, the Milanese construction company led by Massimo Pessina will be one of the first Italian firms to return to Iran after the lifting of the economic sanctions and the reopening of economic and financial exchanges. This new deal consolidates Pessina Costruzioni as Italy's leader in the construction and management of hospitals, which include the newly built and operational hospitals of Garbagnate Milanese, Vimercate e Novara.
