Italy's Italferr wins tram contract in Qatar

(AGI) Rome, May 10 - Italferr, the engineering company of Gruppo FS Italiane (Italian railways), has worn a contract on trams in Qatar. It is to provide, with other leading companies, "Project Management Consulting Services" and technical assistance on the tramway of Lusail, a city 15 kilometres from Doha, the capital of Qatar. The contract with Qatar Railway is worth 96 million euros for 51-months. It involves civil works, implementing technology and plants, developing maintenance systems and supplying rolling stock to service four planned lines, over 38 kilometres, including 10 kilometres which are in tunnels and 37 stations. Italferr has consolidated its presence in Qatar and its relations with Qatar Rail, with which it worked on a project for the Doha underground's Red Line to connect the New Doha International Airport in the West Bay area to the capital.
