Italy to enhance relations with Azerbaijan

(AGI) Rome, June 13 - Italy wishes to enhance its political and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, said Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, on Monday at the Farnesina, opening the 4th session of the Italy-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. "In the past three years relations have grown in volume and quality. Azerbaijan has great potential at a regional level. It is a major reference point for the region because of its key geopolitical significance. Moreover, with its internal stability, the country is a natural partner for Italy from an economic and a political standpoint," said the Minister. "This spurs us to follow this avenue. Baku is increasingly demanding Italian participation in all of its facets. It would be restrictive to limit our relations only to the hydrocarbons sector," added Minister Gentiloni. (AGI). .
