Italy-Vietnam: Binh Duong province promotes trade with Campania
Hanoi - The Vietnam's southern province of Binh Duong recently held a conference to promote the local investment opportunities in Italy, aiming to secure future partnerships with Campania region, according to Vietnamese Embassy in Italy. On 30 May, the visiting delegation led by Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy, Cao Chinh Thien was received by Councillor of Campania Regional Department of Production Activities, Amedeo Lepore.
At the conference, the Vietnamese Ambassador stressed that it's time for business cooperation as the two countries' relations are thriving. Vietnam and Italy consider economic collaboration as a pillar of bilateral ties, he noted, adding that partnerships formed between Vietnamese provinces and Italian regions will contribute to the realisation of the two governments' commitments. Amedeo Lepore emphasised that Vietnam could be important bridge to open relations with Asia, adding a Memorandum of Understanding, would be formulated together with Unioncamere, to define all fields of common interest, economic relations with research, involving universities as well, according to the Press Release of Regional Council of Campania.
Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong People's Committee Mai Hung Dung said Binh Duong province is among fastest growing localities in Vietnam and local authorities always attach importance to the success of investors. He affirmed Binh Duong welcomes Italian investors, especially investors from Campania region, to study the local market, which could serve as a gateway to regional markets. Earlier, a trade promotion delegation from Binh Duong led by Dung had a working session with Campania leaders. The two sides agreed to study the signing of a cooperation pact with specific roadmaps for partnerships in terms of investment, production, culture, and education.
Binh Duong is also one of Vietnam's five leading cities and provinces nationwide in drawing foreign direct investment (FDI), with over 2,890 FDI projects worth US$27.1 billion.According to governmental statistics, Binh Duong province has lured nearly US$1.5 billion in FDI in the first five months of 2017, 6.5 percent higher than the province's target of US$1.4 billion for the entire year. Between January and April, the province's export revenue exceeded US$8.51 billion, up 16.3 per cent from the same period last year.
