(AGI) - Abu Dhabi, 31 ago. - Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, and Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, have met and discussed means of boosting bilateral cooperation relations and issues of mutual concern. During the meeting, Dr. Al Qubaisi expressed her deepest condolences and sympathy to Mr. Stellino on the victims of the earthquake that hit central Italy recently. The Italian Ambassador congratulated the FNC Speaker on the occasion of Emirati Women's Day, commending Emirati women as they assume leadership positions in the country thanks to the great support of the UAE's wise leadership. He also welcomed the forthcoming visit of a Federal National Council delegation to Italy in October, to be headed by Al Qubaisi, stressing the importance of parliamentary exchanges visits and highlighting their important role in promoting bilateral friendly relations. The two sides reiterated the need for the establishment of a parliamentary friendship committee between the two countries, highlighting its importance in supporting and strengthening the existing relations between them. The meeting touched on the importance of promoting economic, tourism, trade, educational and cultural cooperation, especially now that Abu Dhabi will be hosting the first Italian Cultural Centre in the GCC later this year, along with the opening of the first Italian school in the Emirates in 2017. Mr. Stellino commended the outstanding relations between Italy and the UAE, and hailed the comprehensive cultural renaissance and remarkable progress witnessed by the UAE in various fields. During the meeting, Dr. Al Qubaisi denounced the terrorist atrocities in Europe which have killed a number of civilians, stressing the need to confront terrorism and highlighting the UAE's efforts in the fight against extremism and terrorism, and eradicating its roots. At the end of the meeting, the FNC Speaker extended an invitation to Laura Boldrini, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, to visit the UAE and the Federal National Council to participate in the 11th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, to be held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on 12th and 13th December, 2016, under the slogan, "United for Shaping the Future".
