(AGI) Rome, Sept 8 - Italy's footwear exports to Germany rose by 4.8 percent over the first five months of 2016, the Italian Footwear Manufacturers' Association (Assocalzaturifici) reported. Germany is Italy's third-largest market after France and the U.S. in terms of value and second-largest for quantity, constituting 16.5 percent of the total volume of Italy's exports. Assocalzaturifici said Italy exported more than 34 million pairs of shoes and other footwear to Germany in 2015, for a value of 949 million euros. "Germany is a vital outlet for our exports. It represents 11 percent of their total value," affirmed Assocalzaturifici's vice-president, Giovanna Ceolini. "The first five months of 2016, during which there was a general decline in exports, marked an encouraging increase of 4.8 percent compared to the same period last year. The data proves Germany's stability and reliability in the face of economic difficulties and the climate of uncertainty in the EU, and confirms, once again, that it is one of the most important areas for Italy's numerous footwear manufacturers." The 47th "Moda Made in Italy" trade show, which will run from Sept. 9 to 11 at the Munich Order Center (MOC), will therefore be a particularly important event in the sector. The fair will feature 120 exhibitors, more than 230 brands, and the best 2017 spring-summer collections. A novelty this year will be an area dedicated to technology for foot health and wellness, with a scanner capable of finding ideal footwear to match a foot's ergonomic details. In addition, the international fashion forecasting company WGSN will offer insight and suggestions to the sector's professionals, from how to identify new trends to following the sector's thematic evolutions in order to better target consumer demand.
