(AGI) Abu Dhabi, July 25 - The Italian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to go "green" after Abu Dhabi's authorities granted it authorisation to install solar panels on its roof and parking lots. The embassy will be the first to be powered by solar energy, with an estimated output of 45.36 MWh of electricity per year. The Chairman of Abu Dhabi's Regulation & Supervision Bureau (RSB), Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, spoke about the initiative's importance, emphasising the Emirate's 25-point plan to promote environmental sustainability and optimal use of natural resources. Italian Ambassador Liborio Stellino expressed great satisfaction in the result, noting that it is the fruit of "an extraordinary collaboration with RSB and the support of Enel Green Power, in line with the Italian foreign ministry's attention towards environmental stability". He added that the solar panels will be installed "just a few months before Italy will begin its presidency of the International Renewable Energy Agency's General Assembly". Mr Stellino affirmed, "I am confident that this great initiative in Abu Dhabi will further bolster the Emirate's reputation and its projects within the diplomatic and international community."
