(AGI) Orlando, May 13 - The Italian team has won 11 medals at the Invictus Games in Orlando, more than doubling the amount won at the previous games held in London. The Invictus Games is an international Paralympic-style event in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and veterans take part. Italy took seven gold and four bronze medals. The team are already preparing for the next event in Toronto in 2017. The closing ceremony of this year's Games, in which over 500 athletes from 15 countries participated, was spectacular and full of emotions. As in the opening ceremony, the centre stage was reserved for athletes, families and friends, to emphasise the true spirit of this event. The Invictus Games are more than a sports competition: they aim to stimulate closeness, camaraderie and friendship among athletes and their loved ones. Prince Harry, who inspired this burgeoning programme, made a speech congratulating the athletes for their spirit and commitment, before saying Hello to Toronto. Many famous singers performed at the closing, as videos showing the highlights and the most exciting moments of the competitions were screened..
