New Delhi - A 200-member business delegation from Italy will be visiting India in April to see business opportunities in different sectors, said an Indian official. The delegation will be led by Italian Minister for Industries Carlo Calenda. The Italians are looking for investment in various sectors in India. The delegation will have representatives from manufacturing, infrastructure and railways.

Indian Railways had inked a pact with Italian Railways last month for improving the safety level of the Indian carrier through a review of the infrastructure and transport management system. The pact was signed by Renato Mazzoncini, CEO and managing director of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (Italian Railways) and A K Mittal, chairman of Indian Railway Board. India has been trying hard to sell itself as an investment destination under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' campaign.

'Make in India' Make in India is an initiative launched by the Government of India to encourage multi-national, as well as national companies to manufacture their products in India. Indian government and Confindustria (association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy) plans to organize various events in coming months to attract more investment from Italian companies in India. Investment meets have also been planned in different cities of Italy this year. Many Italian companies have also participated in Investors summit organised by different states in India and have shown keen interest in investment in the country.
