(AGI) Milan, June 27 - The Granarolo Group has acquired 50 percent of Swedish company Matric Italgross, which distributes top Italian category brands, and 60 percent of Comarsa, which distributes Made in Italy food products in Switzerland, the fourth-largest market for Italian dairy exports in Europe. The acquisition of Matric Italgross, the second-largest company in Sweden for Italian food and wine products and owner of the Matric and Matilda brands, will allow Granarolo to develop synergies on Sweden's market as well as favour its core products in the country, cheeses in particular. The Granarolo Group is already a leader in terms of market share in the Scandinavian area, where it sells fresh Italian cheeses. Matric, founded in 1991, had a turnover of 185 million SEK - approximately 20 million euros - in 2015, and has three logistics platforms that guarantee coverage throughout Sweden. Comarsa, the leading distributor of Italian food products in Switzerland, has a turnover of 29 million francs, or 27 million euros. The acquisition operation will allow Granarolo to initially enter the market via its dairy products and hams. (AGI). .
