Valletta - The  new film directed by Sergio Castellitto, "Fortunata", opened the Valletta Film Festival. For the next 10 days, the festival will offer the best independent films to the Maltese audience in several theaters throughout the capital. Now in its third edition, the event presented the new film starring Jasmine Trinca and Stefano Accorsi, brought to the big screen by Italian director Sergio Castellitto with a screenplay by Margaret Mazzantini.

The film, which has been nominated for seven Nastro d'Argento awards,  narrates the story of Fortunata, a woman living in the outskirts of Rome. After a failed marriage, she struggles daily to raise her daughter in the best way possible. She encounters many difficulties while trying to achieve her dream of opening her own hairdressing salon, but she did not expect she would find love.
