Dario Fo's and Franca Rame's play on stage in Melbourne

Dario Fo's and Franca Rame's play on stage in Melbourne
 Donne sull'orlo (sito Farnesina)

Melbourne - Melbourne will host "Women on the Verge", an adaptation of the monologues written by Dario Fo and Franca Rame in the 70s and 80s. It is a political play under the direction of Jaime Wilson-Ramirez, interpreted by Maria Paula Afanador, Camilla Palacios, Samantha Urquijo-Garcia and Serena Del Petre, and focuses on their collective demand to stop abuse and violence on women.

The play features four working women with four different stories, and shows how women are abused across the world. To introduce their stories are four cabaret dancers. The play's four stories are: a woman imprisoned by her husband; a sex worker who set a building on fire as revenge; a woman who has been raped; and a woman working in a factory on the brink of collapse. The initiative is a production of "The Bridge Teatro Latino". The show, organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in cooperation with NOMIT, the Italian Network of Melbourne, will take place on April 27.
