(AGI) Rome, June 17 - The 22nd edition of "Isola del Cinema" on Rome's Tiber Island featured an early showing of "A premiere Vue", an initiative by the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM) - which gathers the Mediterranean's radio and television public services, including RAI - the distance e-learning UniNettuno University, and three schools of cinema and television in Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia that are associated with COPEAM. The aim of the event was to promote the first works of young directors from these Mediterranean nations. The short-length films presented during the evening will be the topic of the first episode of the "A premiere Vue" program, which is dedicated to student productions and broadcast on UniNettuno's educational satellite and internet channel. The showing was opened by Maria Amato Garito, Dean of UniNettuno, Naceur Mestiri, Tunisian Ambassador to Italy, and Paola Parri, deputy-secretary general of COPEAM, with the participation of the representatives from the three institutes associated with COPEAM. The films that were shown were: "Il lamento del pesce rosso", written and directed by Oubaid Ayari (ESAC - Tunisia); "Sagar", written and directed by Pape Abdoulaye Seck (ESAV-Marrakech/Senegal); and "Ktir Kbir", written and directed by Mir-Jean Bou Chaaya (ALBA - Lebanon). A debate on Mediterranean cinema was held afterwards, moderated by Claudio Giovannesi - the director of "Fiore", presented at the last edition of the Cannes Festival - and with the participation of, among others, Algerian director and screenwriter Rachid Benhadj. Once again confirming its commitment towards promoting young Mediterranean talents, COPEAM launched a collaboration with Rai Cinema, which will add a selection of the best short films by students of the three partner institutes to its website Rai Cinema Channel.
