(AGI) - Luanda, Sep. 26 - Angola plans to invest in the sector of nuclear energy, which led the Minister of Energy and Water, Joao Baptista Borges, to participate throughout this week, at the 60th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna (Austria). The information was given today in a statement of its Ministry distributed to the media. According to the document, the official of Angola intends to expose the government's point of view on the projects of nuclear energy, as new investment line in the energy sector, and proceed to ratify other legal instruments aimed at the use of nuclear energy. The note states that in the conference Angola will present its preparation of the Medium Term Strategy 2018-2023 process in order to facilitate "access and sustainable use of nuclear technologies including nuclear energy, strengthen the promotion of science, technology and nuclear applications to sustainable development and to support the safety and effective and sustainable nuclear protection". According also the note, during the event, the Agency will be made available to provide effective technical cooperation for sustainable development, provide efficient and effective safeguards of the Agency to ensure the peaceful use of nuclear energy. It will also help in effective management with findings palliative purposes in the communities, with educational messages and awareness for health promotion and prevention of cancer. (AGI) .
