Angola at Macfrut in Rimini to present its agricultural potential

Luanda - An Angolan business mission made up of representatives of several companies will participate in Macfrut, the annual international horticultural and fruit fair, which will be held from 10 to 12 May at the Expo Center of the city of Rimini. The director of the Internationalization of Italian Companies Agency (ICE) in Angola provided the information. According to Milena Del Grosso, the Angolan presence will be fully self-funded, with the support of CesenaFiere.

"Angola has great agricultural potential, and Italy, a country that produces, buys and sells large quantities of horticultural produce abroad, is unaware of this. For this reason, we promote and support Angolan participation in what is one of the world's largest trade fairs in order to open a window of opportunity for commercial and productive partnerships", she explained.

This is the first time that Angola participates in the event and will have its own standpoint, where it will exhibit horticultural products in order to interest more the potential partners. "We know what Angola represents in terms of agricultural potential and can be an excellent partner for Italy. In order to get a sense of this potential, it should be said that only the extension of Angola is four times larger than all of Italy. With an area of 1,246,700 square kilometers, Angola has a potential area of agricultural development of approximately 58 million hectares, according to official data. So far only 4% of arable land is cultivated. Therefore, we are serious about the presentation of Angola to the Italians", she said.

ICE's commitment to presenting the Angolan agricultural potential to Italy is such that the institution is assisting the local Peasant Network Consortium to promote meetings in the margins of the event. The objective is to seek partnerships for the production, processing and export of products of Angolan origin for human and animal consumption or for cosmetic, medicinal or industrial use for the African and European markets.

ICE promotes and sponsors the presence of Angolan business missions to fairs in Italy. Only this year have been promoted missions for some of the most important fairs, such as SIGEP, SAMOTER, COSMOPROF, MADE EXPO and TUTTOFOOD. The ICE office in Angola is also responsible for other countries in the region, namely the Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome and Principe.
